A Recipe of Upgraded Braised Pork Belly that 90% of People Do Not Know

Braised pork is one of the essential New Year dishes commonly known as braised pork with taro or preserved vegetables.

There is a restaurant in Ipoh that has been serving this dish for more than 20 years. Braised pork with taro and lotus root, the three ingredients go well with each other.

The thickly sliced bacon is fatty but not greasy. The taro is fluffy, and the lotus root is soft but crunchy. Lotus root (Lian Ou) is used in this dish, hence the name ‘Lian Lian’ braised pork. As the pronunciation of ‘lian’ and ‘nian’ is close, so we called it ‘nian nian braised pork’.

If you are preparing a New Year’s Eve dish, you might want to try this version this year!
